English Task - For the next few days, we will be doing a writing task based on a scene from a huge favourite film of ours. SHREK!

Watch the clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvSGGd3ewFI

Watch the clip twice so that you have a good idea of the scene.

You are going to be retelling the scene of Shrek and Donkey saving the Princess from the Dragon. Remember your non-negotiable writing rules.

Firstly, you need to plan so have a go at the unaided writing plan.

Make sure you put a lot of information in your plan to help you tomorrow when you are doing your main piece of writing.

Maths Task – This week we’re thinking about MONEY!  If you can, practise identifying and counting coins and notes.

Have a go at these worksheets

Remember < means less than (1<3), < means greater than (5>2) and = means equal to (4=4)

Afternoon Task –This week we would like you to spend time researching a scientific question!  Have a look at Year 3 Independent Scientific Enquiry and choose a question that interests you.  Talk to someone at home about where you could find information and how you can present your research – poster, leaflet, PowerPoint, diagrams, making a video.

Tuesday

English Task – Today we will be starting our writing retelling the scene of Shrek and Donkey saving the Princess.

Use your plan to make sure you include as much information as possible. Use your non-negotiable rules. If you need too, watch the clip again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvSGGd3ewFI

Maths Task – Today we are thinking about pounds and pence.

Remember: 100p = £1 so for example… 239p = £2.39p

Have a go at this pounds and pence worksheet today.

Afternoon Task – Please continue to work on your Science Enquiry task.

Wednesday

English Task – Today we will continue our writing retelling the scene of Shrek and Donkey saving the Princess.

Continue to use your plan to make sure you include as much information as possible. Use your non-negotiable rules. If you need too, watch the clip again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvSGGd3ewFI

When you have finished, use a different coloured pencil or pen and edit you work to make it EVEN better. Remember to include adjectives (describing words) and adverbs (describing a verb) if you haven’t already. We would love to read them when you have finished so send them to us please.

Maths Task – Today we would like you to practise converting pounds and pence.

Remember: 100p = £1 so for example… 239p = £2.39p

Have a go at this converting pounds and pence worksheet.  (Remember to scroll down the page – there are some Reasoning and Problem Solving questions on page 2!)

Afternoon Task - Please continue to work on your Science Enquiry task.

Thursday

English Task – Today we are going to be looking at speech in our writing. We have already done speech before so today it is about remembering the rules of speech. You can even do the actions that we have done in class if you can remember them.

The work today is based on this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c88QE6yGhfM You don’t need to watch the clip to do the worksheet but it is quite a nice clip to watch.

Then have a go at the speech worksheets. The speech rules are on your success criteria at the top. You don’t have to print out the sheet you can just do it straight into the notebook.

Maths Task – Addition of money

Think carefully about the best way to do this today.  Do you need to use columns? Line the numbers up carefully if you do!  Could you use a part whole model?  Addition With Money  Differentiated Activity Sheets

Afternoon Task - Please continue to work on your Science Enquiry task.

Friday

English Task – Today we are going to start reading a book together.

George’s Marvellous Medicine. Then we will be answering questions on the chapter we have read. Grandma is the first chapter. We will read the chapter together and then you can answer the questions either on the sheet or in your notebook. Georges Marvellous Medicine chapter 1 worksheet

Maths Task – Subtracting money/Finding change

To find the correct amount of change you need to subtract the amount the item costs from the amount paid.

For example:  A packet of crisps costs 60p.  You pay with £1.

Change = £1 – 60p or 100p-60p=40p

Work through the examples from check your change worksheet – there are a lot of them today, so work for about 30-40 minutes and see how far you get!

Afternoon Task – Write a letter or draw a picture for someone who may need cheering up.
