Holidays in Term Time
The law states that parents do not have an automatic right to take their child out of school for holidays during term time.
All schools have received clarification from the Department of Education about children taking holidays during term time. As of September 2013, Headteachers are not able to authorise any holiday requests during school time.
If there are exceptional reasons (not holidays) for parents taking their children out of school, a meeting must be arranged with the Headteacher in order to discuss this. The Headteacher can then seek advice from the DfE.
